Why I’m Returning to Medium: The Sweet Smell of Cash (and a Little Bit of Writing Too)

Introduction: I’m Back, Baby!

So, there I was, scrolling through social media, sipping coconut water, and contemplating whether I could officially add “procrastinator” to my list of skills. Then, out of nowhere, a little notification caught my eye: Medium has expanded its Partnership Program to more countries, including the Bahamas. My heart skipped a beat. Could it be? Could I finally make money from all those late-night ramblings I used to post on Medium? Suddenly, the coconut water tasted sweeter, and I knew what I had to do — I was coming back to Medium!

The Love for Writing: Okay, It Wasn’t Just About the Money…

Now, don’t get me wrong. Writing has always been a passion of mine and continues to be. There’s something magical about putting thoughts into words and hitting that “publish” button, knowing that someone out there might actually read and enjoy what I’ve written. Medium was my happy place — a sanctuary where I could share my thoughts with the world, and maybe even get a few claps in return.

But, truth be told, after a while, the novelty wore off. I started a new career, joined Toastmasters, and my focus shifted. Life got busy, and my writing took a backseat to more “important” things, like binge-watching the…
